Post-Disaster Construction Repairs to St. Croix School District
Contract Scope
APTIM provided post-disaster temporary construction repairs to the Lew Muckle Elementary School in the U.S. Virgin Islands’ St. Croix School District. The Lew Muckle Elementary School comprises 50,000-square feet of total campus area. The school sustained damage during Hurricanes Irma and Maria that was extensive enough to cause the school to shut down in the aftermath of the two storms. The Virgin Island Education Department (VIDE) required repairs to be completed before students and teachers returned to their classrooms by the start of the 2018–2019 school year. APTIM’s team understood this project had an aggressive schedule and used our disaster recovery experience and recruiting system to manage the surge requirements. The project was completed by the August 2018 deadline.
